Jefferson County Native, Mike Chapman, Announces

Candidacy for Sheriff

RIPPON, WV – Today, Rippon-native Mike Chapman, formerly announces his bid to

seek the open seat of Jefferson County Sheriff.

“Since graduating college and during an over 25-year career in business, I have

committed thousands of hours of service to Jefferson County community

organizations and efforts, including ten years as a Reserve Deputy with the

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. I am excited to launch my campaign to become

your next Sheriff.

“Jefferson County is a special place for me, and I am thankful for the community I

call home. To become Sheriff means continuing my service to this community,

being a steward of your hard-earned tax dollars and providing safety to each of

you, my neighbors. I sincerely believe in putting this community first.”

The Sheriff's job is much more than just law enforcement. The Sheriff serves as the

county’s Treasurer and is responsible for the collection of taxes and the disbursement of

monies from the county treasury.

To perform these and other functions, the Sheriff oversees around 75 paid personnel and

25 volunteers while managing a budget of approximately $5 million.

“As an experienced business manager and organizational leader, I will bring the

necessary set of skills and leadership to the office to effectively and efficiently

manage our taxpayer dollars while continuing to lead the important law

enforcement functions with integrity.”
